Custom Millwork
Architectural woodwork made to fit the walls, ceilings, corners, and conditions that don’t always behave like the drawings.
The Small Stuff Makes Or Breaks It
Great millwork often goes unnoticed for exactly the right reasons. The panels line up, the corners turn cleanly, and the cabinetry looks like it was always part of the room. Of course, a finished space rarely tells you what it took to get there. Real buildings come with uneven floors, walls that aren’t quite square, unexpected transitions, and details that look straightforward until someone has to make them. That’s where experience matters. The joints, materials, proportions, and installation details all need to work together, even when the conditions aren’t exactly what the drawings promised.
Tecture AF fabricates custom architectural millwork in San Diego for commercial, hospitality, retail, workplace, campuses, biotech, and multifamily projects throughout Southern California. Our shop produces feature walls, wood paneling, slat and fin systems, ceilings, soffits, casework, cabinetry, built-ins, and other architectural woodwork. Sometimes it’s one feature that carries a room; sometimes it’s a full millwork package moving through an entire building. With technical design, CNC milling, digital fabrication, metalwork, and finishing under one roof, our team can coordinate the parts that need to work together, not just the ones made of wood. From early takeoffs and shop drawings through fabrication and installation, the goal stays the same; build it right and make it belong.

Environmental Graphics Built Across San Diego
San Diego, California
At Point Loma Nazarene University, three slatted wood screens separate the chapel’s prayer niches without closing off the space. Fabricated in collaboration with the project architects, these architectural wood elements create privacy while maintaining the chapel’s calm, open character.

At this Bioscience building in Torrey Pines, custom wood wall cladding and column wraps carry a consistent material language throughout the building. The larger fabrication package also includes other details designed to feel connected floor to floor.
Jamul, California
At Emerald inside Jamul Casino, detailed architectural wall treatments extending into the ceiling give the restaurant its layered, elegant character. Working with Designer Keoni Barcarse, we fabricated and installed custom features that connect millwork, metalwork, and finishes throughout the dining space.

Custom millwork generally refers to elements integrated into a building, such as wall paneling, cabinetry, ceilings, and architectural wood features. Custom furnishings focus more on individual pieces like tables, desks, and seating. There’s some overlap between the two, and we fabricate both depending on the project’s needs.
